Commonly, ‘Vedha’ is known as obstruction (disturbance), means- coming interrupt or obstruction. But, it has been considered as dosha (defect/fault) according to Vastu Shastra (in the view of Vastu Shastra). Doshas (defects) found on the road or roads of a plot are called ‘Vedha’. There are many reasons of such defects (doshas) like- temple, mosque, pillar, drain, transformer, etc.
One should always try to avoid purchasing the plot located in the way. This type of obstruction is known as normal obstruction. It is the only which is responsible for misunderstanding or dispute in family life and loss in business.
Plot having defect in its east direction-
Defect in north-east direction– This type of plot is considered as harmful. The front part of it should be left and remaining part of such plot can be used for the construction of house.
Defect in the center of a plot– This type of plot should not be purchased. By living in the house constructed on such plot, family members always go on quarreling with each other and are suffered from diseases. They also have to face economical problem.
Defect in the ways of east and south directions– This type of plot should not be purchased. One has to face various types of problems by purchasing such plot and living in the house constructed on it.
Defect in the ways of east and north directions– It is believed that various kinds of serpents (snake) and other crawling animals (reptiles) go on moving on such plot. Therefore, this type of plot should never be purchased.
Plot having defect in its north direction-
Defect in the center of plot– This type of plot is considered as more defective and quarreling goes on taking place in between family members of the house constructed on such plot. So, it is better to avoid purchasing such plot.
Defect in north-east direction– This type of plot is considered as normal. For eliminating this defect, house should be constructed by leaving little space towards plot.
Defect in north and west direction– This type of plot should not be purchased, because living in the house constructed on such plot causes loss of wealth and reputation. So, it is better to avoid purchase such plot.
Plot having defect in its west direction-
Defect in the center of plot– This type of plot should not be purchased, because by living in the house constructed on such plot, one’s mental ability is become weak.
Defect in north, west and south direction– House, industry, factory, etc. should never be constructed on such plot, because this type of plot is considered as inauspicious.
Defect in north, west and east directions– This type of plot is considered as defective and is not suitable for residential purpose. But, any type of store room, godown, etc. can be constructed on it.
Plot having defect in its south direction-
Defect in south and west direction– This type of plot is considered as harmful.
Defect in the center of plot– If the plot is just in the center and if it has any defect in its road, this type of plot should not be purchased, because living in the house constructed on such plot is responsible for misunderstanding and quarreling in between family members as well as they have to face economical problems also. So, it is better to avoid purchasing such plot.
Defect in north-east direction– This type of plot is not considered as auspicious for living. But, the godown of wood can be made or any type of business can be started on this plot.
Few other types of defects-
Defect in the middle of two different directions– If defect comes just in the middle of two different directions, this type of defective plot should never be purchased.
Defect in the plot having three directions– This type of plot should not be used for residential purpose, because such plot is considered as defective. It is the best for iron related business.
Defect in the roads of east and west directions– House should not be constructed on such plot, because living in such house is responsible for quarreling and difficulties between family members. So, it is better to avoid purchasing such plot.
The plot with defect in the roads located in all the four directions is considered as very defective. If one does any type of work on this plot, he gets not other than only loss.
Plot having closed (blocked) road– It has been often seen that any street or road is blocked while plotting, so the plot having such blocked road or street is known as ‘Plot having blocked road’.
This type of plot is not considered as auspicious for both residential and commercial purpose, so it is better to avoid purchasing such plot.
Plot having other types of defects- In this series, the plots having crossroads, drain, pillar, pond, river, place for tying animals, etc. are also known as defective plot.
Among these defects, two defects are considered as important like-
- Defect due to having trees.
- Defect due to having temple or pantheon.
Defect due to having trees–
If a plot has trees and plants or natural green environment near its surroundings, normally it is considered as good, but having big trees like- peepal, banyan, etc. near any plot is considered as harmful according to Vastu Shastra. It has been believed through Vastu Shastra that such type of trees should be at as much distance from the house as their shades could not fall on the main gate or door of the house. It often takes place due to coming anything in the way of sunlight.
Defect due to having temple or pantheon- There is no any doubt that temple or pantheon, etc. are very auspicious, but the presence of it near house is not considered as auspicious. According to Vastu Shastra, it must be at a distance minimum double from the house, because temple or pantheon is considered as the symbol of disaffection (indifference) from worldliness. Thus, the people living in the house affected from the shade of temple also start influencing from sadness and with the feeling of leaving worldly affection.
