IBPS: Institute of Banking Personnel Selection

IBPS fullform is Institute of Banking Personal Selection. It is an independent organization in India that conducts online exams to recruit officers, clerks and trainees in public sector banks in India. IBPS is located in Mumbai. In the year 2018 to 2019, about 1.01 crore candidates were selected by the IBPS exam. The institute conducts various exams to recruit for many posts in public sector banks which are given below:

  1. IBPS clerk exam for clerical posts
  2. IBPS PO Exam for Probationary Officers
  3. IBPS SO Examination for Specialist Officers
  4. IBSC RRB Examination for Officers and Office Assistants in Regional Rural Banks



IBPS Vision

The vision of IBPS is to develop and implement world-class processes and systems by evaluating and selecting personnel in an unbiased manner for client organizations. It also oversees conducting relevant research and publicizing the results.

The IBPS is nominated by the Governing Board. Its director serves as the chief executive officer and performs his functions and duties in a coordinated manner with the divisional heads. Mr. Ashwini Kumar remains the current Chairman and Managing Director of IBPS.

The IBPS periodically recruits candidates in the banking sector by organized online exams. It accepts applications for online exams on its website and undertakes to conduct the exam in many places across the country.

Brief history of IBPS

IBPS took over as the Personnel Selection Service (PSS) in 1975. It then became an independent body in 1984, with the permission of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and public sector banks. Then in 2011, it started conducting Common Written Examination (CWE) to recruit candidates in public sector banks. Today CPSE of IBPS also serves to select candidates for employment in public sector or regional rural banks.

IBPS Career: Get a government job in banking sector with IBPS exam

Under IBPS Recruitment, the exam is being organized for the recruitment of many main posts for IBPS Public Sector Bank. If you want to make your career in banking sector then this exam can change your luck. Banking is a good field to give a new dimension to your career. In order to get a government job in a bank, candidates have to give the examinations conducted by the Institute of Banking Personal Selection. These jobs are as follows- Specialist Officer (SO), Probationary Officer (PO), Clerk etc. The process of selection for the candidates starts from August and lasts for about a year.

IBPS PO

IBPS PO Exam is conducted to recruit candidates for the post of Probationary Officer. In order to give this exam, candidates must have a graduation degree from a recognized university. For this, the age of the candidates should be between 20 and 30 years. The reserved category candidates are given age relaxation as per government rules. In order to get a job on the post of Probationary Officer, the candidates have to first give the Preliminary Exam followed by the Main Exam and finally the Interview.

IBPS Clerk

The exam of IBPS Clerk is conducted for recruitment to Clerk or similar posts. In order to give this exam, candidates must have a graduation degree from a recognized university. Those applying for the exam clerk or similar posts should be between 20 and 28 years old. Candidates of reserved category can be given age relaxation as per government rules. To get selected in these posts, the candidates have to first go to pre-primary exam and then the main exam. Both exams are computer based.

IBPS SO

The exam of IBPS SO is done to select candidates for the post of Specialist Officer in the bank. According to an information, IT Officer, Agriculture Officer, Law Officer, Official Language Officer, HR / Personal Officer and Marketing Officer are included in the post of Specialist Officer. The selection process for recruitment to these different posts is also done differently. In order to get a government job on these posts, the age of giving the exam should be 20 to 30 years. In order to get the job of Specialist Officer in the bank, candidates have to pass the prelims exam, main exam and interview.

IBPS RRB

IBPS RRB exam is conducted for office assistant and officer scale 1, 2 and 3. The eligibility and age limit of the candidates for these different posts also vary. For the post of Office Assistant and Officer Scale 1, candidates have to go through the Preliminary Examination and Main Examination. Only one exam is required for Officer Scale 2 and 3.

IBPS Clerk Mains Result 2020 Exam Result Released

The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) conducted the IBPS Mains Exam 2020 on 19 January 2020 and the re-examination for some candidates was conducted on 08 February 2020 at various IBPS centers across India. Now all the candidates who appeared in the examination are waiting for the result of IBPS Clerk exam. IBPSC Clerk Men’s Result can be expected to be released in April 2020. However, no official information about IBPS Clerk IX Mains has been released on the official website www.ibps.in.



If you are thinking of downloading the result of IBPS Clerk Mains, then you must have a login credential for this. Registration number / roll number and password / DOB along with captcha will have to be used for verification.

Candidates should keep in mind that IBPS has postponed the provisional allocation result for CRP- CLERKS-VIII. Provisional allocation results for the post of CRP –PO – MT –VIII for the post of IBPS Probationary Officer / Management Trainee and CRP –Specialist Officers for IBPS Specialist Officer have been postponed due to outbreak of Corona Virus (COVID-19) in India . Therefore, IBPS clerk mains result can also be postponed after lockdown.

IBPS VIII Exam Postpone Notice

Please note that last year, IBPS Clerk Mains Exam (CRP- CLERKS-VIII) was held on 20 January 2020 and the result was declared on 01 April 2019. The IBPS Clerk Mains Result link was active till 30 April 2019.

This year the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) has published recruitment notification for the total recruitment of CR-21 CLERKS-IX for a total of 12705 posts for 2020-21. The IBPS Clerk Prelims Exam 2019 was held on 07, 08, 14 and 21 December 2019. The result of IBPS Prelims was declared on 02 January 2020 and IBPS Mains Admit Card was released on 07 January 2020.
