Astrology- Practical Astronomy
The English word ‘Astrology’ is derived from two words- Astro means ‘Constellation’ and logos means reason. It is called Jyotish shaastra or the science of light in Sanskrit language. Indian astrology is based on the principles of time.
Our ancient saints had complete knowledge about all the branches of science and they had taken out the solution of all those problems of life, the modern science has been engaged in trying to get their solutions. Our intelligent and expert astrologers can predict about different types of diseases before occurring them in a person. Others have not this type of ability. Few of the saints have also said about it in following way-
‘Darpan Mithyavatta’ means the image seen by mirror is, actually, not represent the truth. Constellations and planets are the representation of material in the universe and they always move according to the natural principles of gravitation force. Astrology is the science that keeps information about the affects of them falling on human beings and worldly works. Connectivity, stickiness, gravitational force and chemical combination are the universal powers (energies) that go on working continuously. The smallest particle of any element which can be thought is called molecule. A nucleus is also found in the center of it, known as proton. On the orbit (path) around it, electron goes on revolving as like the planets revolve around the sun. The human beings living on this earth is mixture of many such molecules and go on influencing surely by the changes happening in the solar system.
Formation and breaking of rocks, changing of weather, environment, day and night, formation and destruction of articles, etc. all these happen by the affects of solar system. The sun is responsible for rain and this rain influences our crops, trees and plants and then its impacts fall on animal’s and human’s life, their health, wealth and even on their economical conditions.
When a baby takes birth and in which important moment he/she breathes first time, the environment around him/her at that time affects his/her future, this is the reason why the moment of the birth can not be compared with anything. The angular views of planetary rays go on changing every after every second. As a result of it, its affects go on changing also on worldly creatures and things surely. Human population on this earth is more than about 2000000000, but any two people even twins behave differently.
The human being has no any choice about taking birth. It depends on God which is determined according to the deeds of previous life. The child of a rich person is become the successor of millions by the luck of birth, but it may also possible that a very talented person would not be able to lead good life. Like this, the principles of deeds appear, because the various types of evilness are present in the world by absence of it can not be described clearly. An abusive sound is very tiny invisible wave that affect on one’s brain and go on giving pain, like this it can be also said about a small admire. Since, the moon influences the mind; we see the mad as more excited on full moon day and novchandra day. The three natures of the people- sattav (purity), rajas (work) and tamas (laziness), depends on the foods they eat. In all these cases, we see many minor effects on the people.
One is just a spot (point) comparison to the universe and as a result of it only, joy and sorrow or ups and downs happen in his/her life according to the changes taking place on the earth and the sky. The earth creates obstructions in gravitational related works of the sun while revolving around it in her orbit and these types of obstructions go on spreading in the form of waves. Such types of affects are generated also by the moon and other planets which are not seen with naked eyes. When the affects of these planets can fall on the huge sun, you can easily estimate the strong affect of these waves on very soft mechanical and small creature like human being.
Like this, the impact of the sun, planets and constellation falls on the life of everyone whether it is movable or stable. The astrology also tells that when and how it affects us? Is it good, bad or affect less? How can we increase or decrease it? Or, how can we eliminate the bad affects of planetary position through the treatment methods of ancient saints.
The base of astrology–
Astronomy is known as the base of astrology. The actual factors of it are- the sun, all the planets, the moon, zodiac, constellation and the other cite of sky. The nature or the movement of them can be observed from a certain corner as well as the information about human beings, any certain area, countries or the entire world, etc. can be predicted.
Zodiac sign and solar system–
The zodiac sign is an imaginary path in the sky which is about 18° wide through the center of which sun path comes out making the background of the sun, moon and all types of planetary movements. These can not be seen with naked eyes, it is found out only after studying planetary movements. The sun path is divided into 12 equal sections each of 30° and all are known as different zodiac signs. According to astrology, the sun is known as the master (head) of the solar system. In addition to the sun, other heavenly bodies like- Moon, Earth, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Rahu and Ketu are also present in the solar system. It is also observed that the affects of planets- Uranus, Neptune and Pluto falls on the working movements of a person.
Constellation and stars–
The sun is printed by 27 groups of constellation each of them is situated at the distance of 40/3°. The groups of zodiac and stars are counted from the same point, for example- the 0° longitudinal line of Aries i.e. the starting point of Aries is also known as the first (starting) point of the groups of Ashwani constellation.
All the zodiac signs of zodiac have their own importance like-
|S.No.||Zodiac sign (in Hindi)||Zodiac sign (in English)||Distance from 0° of Aries|
|1.||मेष||Aries||0 to 30|
|2.||वृषभ||Taurus||30 to 60|
|3.||मिथुन||Gemini||60 to 90|
|4.||कर्क||Cancer||90 to 120|
|5.||सिंह||Leo||120 to 150|
|6.||कन्या||Virgo||150 to 180|
|7.||तुला||Libra||180 to 210|
|8.||वृश्चिक||Scorpio||210 to 240|

|10.||मकर||Capricorn||270 to 300|
|11.||कुंभ||Aquarius||300 to 330|
|12.||मीन||Pisces||330 to 360|
In Indian astrology, the planets are used in the sense of universal point (heavenly bodies) and they have also gravitational force. These planets are as follow-
|S.No.||Planet (in Hindi)||Planet (in English)|
The moon complete on revolution in its orbit around the earth in maximum 27 days, which are as follow- Ashwin, Bharni, Rohini, Aardra, Krittika, Mrigshira, Pushya, Magha, Aashlesha, Hubba (Purva Phalguni), Uttara Phalguni, Chitra, Hasta, Vishakha, Swati, Jyeshtha, Anuradha, Uttarashadha, Purvashadha, Shatbhisha, Ghanishtha, Shrawan, Uttarabhadrapad, Purvabhadrapad and Rewati. (Only 25 days are given)
Thousands of years ago, man had no knowledge that our earth is spherical or square in shape. Hundreds of years ago, man knew that it is round, but he was not know that it is the part of universe or a planet revolving around the sun like other planets. But, now man has known that the sun is a star and the moon is satellite revolving around the planets.
It is also said about it that our earth revolves around the sun. This family of the planets along with the sun is known as the solar system. It was originated 5 billion years ago. There are nine planets and 33 moons are included in it which are known by us. It has also thousands of small planets and grahikayen. The sun situated in the center of this solar system is huge body. It is a huge ball of shining gas having radius about 1392000 km (865000 miles) while the radius of the earth is only 13000 km (8000 miles). The surface of the sun is yellow and hot and its temperature is about 6000°C. It emits bright light and high temperature resulting life is impossible on the nearest planet ‘Mercury’. Like this, life is also not easy on the farthest planet from the sun, because it is as far from the sun as it does not get sufficient heat and light for life. On the basis of information we have till now, we know that life is possible on this earth only. The path on which the planets revolve around the sun is called obit. This orbit is square or ovule. Except the orbit of Pluto, all the orbits are situated on the same level i.e. not tilted much. Around most of the planets, there are the orbits of their moon.
The mercury is known as the nearest planet to the sun that is situated at a distance of about 57900000 km from the sun. Next is the Venus at a distance of about 108200000 km from the sun. The earth is situated at the distance about 149598000 km from the sun, Mars at the distance about 227900000 km, Jupiter at a distance of 778300000 km, Saturn at a distance of 1427000000 km, Uranus at a distance of 2869600000 km, Neptune at a distance of 4496600000 km, Pluto at a distance of 5900000000 km. among all the nine planets, Mercury and Venus have no any moon, the earth has one moon, the Mars has two moons, Jupiter has 13 moons, the Saturn has 10 moons (rings), the Uranus has 5 moons, the Neptune has 2 moons. The earth completes one rotation on its axis with the speed of 20.27 km per second and the length of year is of 365.25 days and the time period of day is 24 hours 56 minutes 4 seconds.
The most part of the sun is found in the form of hydrogen gas that goes on changing in to helium gas gradually. The nearest four planets are mostly made up of rocks and metals. They have hydrogen and helium in very little quantity. These gases are common in the entire solar system. In comparison to other planets, our earth the third planet from the sun has oxygen and water in abundant volume. In addition to them, Nitrogen, carbon, helium, etc. are also present in it. Its surface’s temperature is suitable for life whether it is polar region covered with ice or the hottest desert. About ¾ part of the earth has water and ¼ of it has land. The most ancient civilizations of the earth are found on the bank of river, but are not found on sea beaches.
The sun is also known as a star. It is one of thousands stars. The groups of stars are also known as galaxy and it is very huge. It is the second biggest galaxy. The biggest one is known as Andromeda. The sun along with its family planets move (revolve) around the center of galaxy gradually. It takes about 225 years in completing one revolution.
As like all the planets revolve around the sun on their orbits and remain fix at their axis with the gravitational force of the sun as the moon also goes on revolving around the earth. The orbit of the moon is ovule in shape, but not round in shape. The moon has also much power that influences the earth. As a result of it, tides go on coming in sea water everyday. The earth’s gravitational force is considered as more powerful than the moon’s one. (The radius of the moon is 3475 km and it is about 500000000 km far away from the earth), because it is larger and heavier than it. The sun’s gravitational force is more powerful than them and holds all the planets in ovule orbits around it.
The moon has also no its own heat and light like other planets. It only reflects the light of the sun. The semi moon goes on reflecting sun’s light all the time, but in the different condition of moon’s revolution, its light sections appear in different forms from the earth. Sometimes the whole section coming in the front of earth appears as reflecting sun’s light. It is known as full moon. On other sides, the moon appears as very thin shining line, it is known as semi moon. The different forms (appearances) of the moon seen from the earth are known as moon’s phages. It completes all its phages in 19½ days, it is called chanramas. These are as much certain and regular as it is used by calculating time. When the moon comes in between the sun and the earth, the sunlight falls on its back side, but it can not be seen from earth, because it is hidden at this time and called as new moon. According to Indian calendar, the time period from new moon to full moon is known as shukla paksha and the time period from full moon to new moon is known as Krishna paksha. The moon takes about 27½ days in completing on revolution on its orbit around the earth. It completes on rotation on its axis in 27.33 days. When it completes one rotation on its axis, the earth completes few distances around the sun; in other hand, the line of sun and earth is stepped ahead.
When solar eclipse takes place, it takes place only at the time of navgraha amavasya, while the dark surface of the moon is towards earth and the surface lighted from sun is towards another side. Just opposite to it, when lunar eclipse takes place, the whole moon is poornamasi and the earth comes just in between the moon and the sun.
It is essential for the knowledge of astrology. Both, together, influence the fundamental principles of ancient astrology.
But, the entire world has been considered as the body of God ‘Vishnu’ according to universal fact of Hindu.
It has been described in very easy way in a shloka of ‘Vishnu Sahastranam’ which is as follow-
- The feet of God ‘Vishnu’ has been called earth.
- The navel of God ‘Vishnu’ has been known as sky.
- The breath of God ‘Vishnu’ has been known as air.
- ln this series, both the eyes of God ‘Vishnu’ has been called the sun and moon.
- Direction points are considered as the ears of God ‘Vishnu’.
- The head of God ‘Vishnu’ has been named as divine.
- the house of God ‘Vishnu’ has been called as sea/
Like this, the stomach of God ‘Vishnu’ has been known as the world of devas, demons, gandharvas, male, female, birds, animals, etc.
